Yr 12 Unit 2: Evaluation Guidance

This is the final section of this Unit and is worth 12 marks

Due date: Wednesday February 22nd February


Key Points to Cover:

1. You will be assessing your planning process in relation to creating the Creative Event


2. You should be able to recognise the strengths and weaknesses in the planning and give examples of how these may have affected the event.


3. You should suggest how your planning could be modified. You must learn to refer back to the initial creative idea in your reporting. Did the performance come out and you had planned. Did the setting look correct, the dancing the costume, make up…


4. You should assess the success of the event against the initial planning. (use the emails that I have sent you from teachers and audience members)


5. You should analyse the style and genre of the production bearing in mind the cultural traditions in which your production is set (It may be the case that your planning involved an introduction of more than one cultural tradition).

WALT develop the structure of out Limon Dance.

• Note where there should be highlights and make the most of this, create a climax.


• Refine and re-cap the developed dance.

Today we also had a ballet and contemporary technique session to strengthen your technique for performance. this needs to be applied to your performance work all the time.

West Side Story Help!!!

Right girls and boys – make sure you use the following to help you…

Budget: £6500 (used for band, photocopying, extra rehearsals, costumes…) – will get you a break down of costs too
First things you would approach with your budget:
- Event hire: venue ,availability of date, performance space and rehearsal area
- Technical facilities (lighting http://www.gradav.co.uk/) – look at this it’s the company we are using!!
- Marketing (tickets, posters…)
- Costumes (cutting costs, ‘beg, borrow or steal’)
- Hiring Scene (http://www.scenicprojects.co.uk/) – look at this it’s the company we are using!

www.josef-weinberger.com – must research this guy as he has all the copyrights for the production that the school is delivering! – Remember what Mrs Richardson mentioned:

Weinberger charges for:
- rights to put on production (a contract must be signed- I will get you a copy of this)
- Scripts
- Music score
- 15% of tickets sales must be given to him
- A front row seat must be reserved for each show in case Weinberger decides to make an appearance

Hello Dancers!

I've read your feedback and am starting to action your points, so here goes!

We need to have all of your second skills audits by Wednesday next week, the deadline was supposed to be for this week, so you actually have a bit of extra time. Email me the Limon research as well.

Next Friday's lesson with me will be a Limon technique class followed by the creative session, come with more great ideas. Good work today but we need to be more productive, therefore I will be assigning creative tasks.

Keep up to date with logs, you have a lot to put in for today's remember use self assessment, peer assessment and teacher feedback to comment on your improvements, progress and further targets. Use youtube to look at your newest videos as well as look at professional dance works in the three different techniques to secure your understanding of what their features are.
